The amount of light in West Van keeps impressing us. All our lives we’ve looked North towards the mountains. West Van’s south west exposure feels like a different place entirely. Hard to notice until you live here.

Beach Blanket
Having a little beach at the end of the road is working out quite well. When the sun comes out, so do we! Pack a picnic, grab a blanket and stroll down for the sunset. Friends and family welcome!
First Tooth Out!
8:00 PM Friday February 27. No fuss, no drama. Where does the time go? After I took this picture, Charlotte said, “Daddy I love you”. Doesn’t get better than that!
Keeping cool in Tidal Pools
Some summer fun at the Ucluelet Aquarium and Long Beach in Tofino. The aquarium is great because it’s features only local sea creatures that get released back to the wild every few weeks.
Little Green Dress
Having fun on the Empress grounds waiting for Mommy before our walk to Emily Carr’s house in James Bay.
Our Huge Garden
Despite living in Eagle Harbour surrounded by trees and close to the beach, we still love spending a little time at Van Dusen Gardens. Having year round access to this incredible place is such a great thing. It feels like a private club (sans tennis courts) complete with licensed patio and 55 acres of botanical gardens all for about $100/year for the entire family. Every time we go it feels like an investment in well being. Daddy was also shooting some footage of the forgotten Forest Education Centre found within the property. We’re going to be working with Van Dusen and the Parks Board to see if we can come up with a plan to help reignite this incredible facility. Send ideas in the comments section!
North Shore Spirit Trail
Had a quick walk along a section of the North Shore Spirit Trail in North Vancouver today. We’re getting cycling back into our lives and this trail looks like a step in the right direction. Will be learning more as the trail is supposedly expanding all the way to Horseshoe Bay. Currently the North Vancouver portions of the Spirit Trail are well defined complete with dog parks, pedestrian definitions and outdoor public furniture. The connection to West Van over the Capilano River feels dangerous and poorly defined. Seems like West Van needs to put some money towards infrastructure and planning instead of token signs pointing bikes and pedestrians through Park Royal! More to come.
